Tonight or never.
Actually last Tuesday night, or today, or whenever. (Don’t you just love online videos?)
Anyway, last week I was actually on a French TV show!! Well, more like sitting off to the side, trying not to sneeze while maintaining good posture and only smiling when everyone else smiled, even when the makeup girl came over to fix the host’s perfectly combed hair, so as to keep the look of concerned observation and avid attention because I had some sort of an inkling that what they were talking about was serious, or at least somewhat more serious than I would have guessed from the white plastic, neon lights and glittery things all over the stage.
I thought our French teacher was kidding when she stressed the importance of wearing colorful clothing to the show (Um, hello, I thought I was only supposed to bring black clothing and leave the neon hats at home). But when we arrived at the studio, this petite woman with big hair, high heels and dressed all in a strawberry-popiscle sort of red literally arranged us around the host based on what color shirt we were wearing. (Note: I was in green.)
And so we watched: a bit of news (SO COOL), a lively debate on nuclear Iran and a segment on some random American artist who photographed crowds of naked people to protest global warming. And of course, because we were in France, halfway through the show, a waiter came out and offered us all goblets - i repeat, GOBLETS - of champagne. And cute little cakes.
It was awesome.
